Matthew 24:7 "For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.

These are just beginning of the End.

According to Matthew 24, Luke 21, Mark 13, and Revelation 6, violent earth quakes are describe as one of the signs preceding the Day of the Lord.

The Bible mentions that earthquakes occurred during the following events: at Mount Sinai, when God gave the law to Moses; during the wilderness wandering of the Israelites, when Korah and his followers rebelled against Moses and were destroyed as punishment for their rebellion; during a fight between the Philistines and Jonathan and his armor bearer; after Elijah killed the prophets of Baal and fled from Jezebel’s wrath, before God spoke to him ; during the reign of King Uzziah. The earth shook and the rocks split at the death of Yeshua on Calvary. Another earthquake took place at the resurrection of Yeshua. When Paul and Silas were in jail at Philippi, an earthquake shook the foundations of the prison. Earthquakes are predicted for the “Day of the Lord” and the end of the age.

The earthquake in Japan was awesome and has the potential to destroy the Japanese economy. Japan has a greater debt problem than the US. This earthquake is going to greatly reduce tax revenue while, at the same time, driving up the debt to try and rebuild. While this author does not see any direct connection between this earthquake and Japan’s policy towards Israel, this earthquake may have occurred because Japan’s official policy toward Israel is to support a Palestinian state.

New Zealand was just hit with its worst earthquake in recent history partly because of its support for homosexual relationships in the Church and its government policy against Israel, this earthquake caused one of its major cities to be destroyed. It appears that God has been using earthquakes to judge anti-Semitism and homosexual relationships in certain nations. While God cares about homosexuals and we as believers should never hate people who are homosexuals, the biblical fact is that abortion, homosexuality, and being against the Israeli state are sins that inspire God to send judgments upon these nations. This recent activity is consistent with Old Testament style judgments upon unrighteous nations.

The world is now convulsing with earthquakes, natural disasters, and dying economies. Before the Day of the LORD arrives, things are not going to get better and in all areas it is going to get worse. This is why the Christian community should stay focused on Messiah Yeshua and His coming for His church. When Messiah Yeshua returns with His church, He is going to stand on the Mount of Olives. This will trigger the great earthquake mentioned in Revelation 16. It appears that the massive earthquakes we are now seeing are only foreshadows of what is coming within the near future.
