Half Man - Half Price Store ~ The Story of Peng Shuilin   In life we keep complaining about what is or why we don't have. Half the time we seem dissatisfied, though full-bodied and free to choose. He was born in Hunan Province , China ... In 1995, in Shenzhen, a freight truck sliced his body in half. His lower body and legs were beyond repair. Surgeons sewed up his torso. Peng Shuilin, 37, spent nearly two years in hospital in Shenzhen, southern China , undergoing a series of operations to re-route nearly every major organ or system inside his body. Peng kept exercising his arms, building up strength, washing his face and brushing his teeth. He survived against all odds. Now Peng Shulin has astounded doctors by learning to walk again after a decade. Considering Peng's plight, doctors at the China Rehabilitation Research Centre in Beijing devised an ingenious way to allow him to walk on his own, creating a sophisticated egg cup-like casing to hold his body, with two bionic legs attached. It took careful consideration, skilled measurement and technical expertise.. Peng has been walking the corridors of Beijing Rehabilitation Centre with the aid of his specially adapted legs and a re-sized walking frame. RGO is a recipicating gait orthosis, attached to a prosthetic socket bucket. There is a cable attached to both legs so when one goes forward, the other goes backwards. Rock to the side, add a bit of a twist and the leg without the weight on it advances, while the other one stays still, giving a highly inefficient way of ambulation. Oh so satisfying to 'walk' again after ten years with half a body! Hospital vice-president Lin Liu said: "We've just given him a checkup; he is fitter than most men his age." Peng Shuilin has opened his own bargain supermarket, called the Half Man-Half Price Store. The inspirational 37-year-old has become a businessman and is used as a role model for other amputees. At just 2ft 7ins tall, he moves around in a wheelchair giving lectures on recovery from disability. His attitude is amazing, he doesn't complain. "He had good care, but his secret is cheerfulness. Nothing ever gets him down." You have a whole body. You have feet. Now you have met a man who has no feet. His life is a feat of endurance, a triumph of the human spirit in overcoming extreme adversity. Next time you want to complain about something trivial, don't.Remember Peng

വടകര: വടകര ബി.ഇ.എം. സ്‌കൂളിലെ 80 കുട്ടികള്‍ക്കായി 2.80 ലക്ഷം രൂപ വിലവരുന്ന ആധുനിക രീതിയിലുള്ള ഡെസ്‌കുകളും ബെഞ്ചുകളും പൂര്‍വ വിദ്യാര്‍ഥികളായ ഗോര്‍ദന്‍ ദാസ് സോണി, പി.എല്‍. സോണി എന്നിവര്‍ ചേര്‍ന്ന് സമര്‍പ്പിച്ചു. പി.എല്‍. സോണിയില്‍ നിന്ന് സ്‌കൂള്‍ പ്രധാനാധ്യാപകന്‍ സി.എച്ച്. സുഭാഷ് ഏറ്റുവാങ്ങി.

ടി. ബാലക്കുറുപ്പ് അധ്യക്ഷത വഹിച്ചു. മാടോള്ളതില്‍ രാജന്‍, ടി. ബാലക്കുറുപ്പ്, പി.എല്‍. സോണി, സി.എച്ച്. സുഭാഷ്, പി.കെ. ശ്രീധരന്‍, ഷംസുദ്ദീന്‍ കല്ലിങ്കല്‍, കെ.എം. സത്യന്‍, അബ്ദുള്‍ കരീം, ഗില്‍ബര്‍ട്ട് ക്ലിഫോര്‍ഡ്, ഒ.വി. സച്ചിദാനന്ദന്‍ എന്നിവര്‍ സംസാരിച്ചു.

Dear Readers,

Contempt of court is a severe crime and treated as an anti-social activity.

It is an anti-national activity also.

As per the constitution of North Kerala Diocese the executive committee has the full right to

appoint any person as the manager of our educational institutions.The Bishop is only

a person(being the chairman of the executive committee) to sign on the appointment letter of the manager elected by the executive committee.

He must send request letter to the Govt.Authorities on behalf of the executive committee to approve

the appointment of the manager.Then only the appointees also will get approved in employment.

In the month of July 2011 the diocesan executive met and decided to remove Mr.C.M.Babu  from

the post of corporate manager of All Schools in Malabar and Wayanad and appoint 

Rev.Vinod Allen as the new manager.The Govt. has approved his appointment also.

This appointment was made for a period of one year or 'until further orders'.The period was from

01.08.2011 to 31.07.2012.

Despite of repeated requests from all the executive committee members the so called bishop 

was not ready to convene the executive committee.As usual he was trying to sabotage the 

church democracy and cheat the church members.One of the church members approached the

Hon.Subordinate Court of Ottapalam,Palakkad and obtained the above injunction order 

dated 31.07.2012.

The order of the Hon.Court is very clear.The bishop is not supposed to appoint any person as manager

in the educational institutions without convening executive committee and its recommendations.

The order dated 31.07.2012 was received by him on the same day evening.The next day

 he simply appointed his closest Allie Mr.Jacob Mathew as the corporate manager of Trichur corporate

management.One gang forcibly entered into trichur office and threatened the present manager Rev.Danial

John(Benny Achan) and assumed charges.How is it??????.He can simply sit there.No Govt.will approve his appointment without the executive committee resolution.

The bishop tried a mockery play in calicut also.He sent the old expelled manager Mr.C.M.BABU with an

appointment letter stating that "Bishop is the Education Agency'.(we feel pity on you dear bishop kuruvila).

This not a single management like some Nair families own.Here also he was accompanied by few people like

Mr.Jayachandra Herman alias Unni(who sent foolish complaints to Govt.and miserably failed) and some workers of a small political party(Mr.Babu's party CMP).

THE POLICE INTERFERED AND ONCE AGAIN IT WAS PROVED THAT THE BISHOP IS JUST 

A SPIRITUAL LEADER OF THE CHURCH AS WELL AS THE SIGNING PERSON OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE AND HE HAS NO 'BUSINESS' WITH SCHOOLS AND 

COLLEGE.THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE IS THE EDUCATION AGENCY.

ONCE UPON A TIME ONE KING WAS THERE.HE SAID 'I AM THE STATE'.SIMILAR STORY REPEATS.

WE ARE ASHAMED TO PUT THESE WORDS ABOUT OUR BISHOP.POOR BISHOP HAS TO FACE 'CONTEMPT OF COURT PROCEEDINGS'.

NB-THE BISHOP KURUVILA IS FREE TO SEND COMPLAINTS AGAINST THIS POST TO

THE CHIEF MINISTER OF KERALA OR EVEN  TO THE PRESIDENT OF INDIA.

GIVEN A CHANCE FOR A  'LAUGH'  TO THE AUDIENCE IN THE COURT.

ONE WITNESS WAS A 'FAKE'(FAKE ADDRESS) AND THE POLICE COULD NOT 

PRODUCE HIM IN THE COURT EVEN AFTER SEVERAL ARREST WARRANTS.

ചിറ്റാര്‍: മഹാപ്രളയത്തെ അതിജീവിക്കാന്‍ നോഹ പെട്ടകം ഉണ്ടാക്കാന്‍ ഉപയോഗിച്ചതെന്ന് ബൈബിളില്‍ പരാമര്‍ശിക്കുന്ന ഗോഫര്‍മരം ഗവി മേഖലയിലെ വനത്തില്‍ വളരുന്നു. പശ്ചിമഘട്ട മലനിരകളില്‍ പൂവിടാതെ കായ്ക്കുന്ന ഏക വൃക്ഷവും ഇതാണ്.


വനം വകുപ്പിന്റെ ഗൂഡ്രിക്കല്‍ റേഞ്ചില്‍പ്പെട്ട ഗവി മേഖലയിലെ പച്ചക്കാനം ഭാഗത്തും ഉറാനിയിലുമാണ് ഗോഫര്‍ മരങ്ങള്‍ മാനംമുട്ടെ വളര്‍ന്നുനില്‍ക്കുന്നത്. ബോഡോകോര്‍പസ് നെജിയാന എന്ന ശാസ്ത്രനാമത്തില്‍ അറിയപ്പെടുന്ന ഗോഫര്‍ മരം മലയാളത്തില്‍ നിറംപല്ലി എന്നാണ് അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. 12 വര്‍ഷം മുമ്പാണ് ഈ വൃക്ഷം ഗോഫര്‍ മരമാണെന്ന് വനംവകുപ്പ് ശാസ്ത്രീയ പഠനങ്ങളിലൂടെ തെളിയിച്ചത്. ഗവി മേഖലയില്‍ പച്ചക്കാനം ഭാഗത്ത് ആനച്ചാല്‍ ചരിവിലും അപ്പര്‍ മൂഴിയാര്‍വഴി ഉറാനിയിലേക്കുള്ള വഴിയില്‍ കടമാന്‍കുന്നു ഭാഗത്തും ഗോഫര്‍ മരം ധാരാളം കണ്ടുവരുന്നുണ്ട്.

പച്ചക്കാനം ഫോറസ്റ്റ് ചെക്ക്പോസ്റ്റ് കടന്ന് ഗവിയിലേക്കുള്ള യാത്രയില്‍ രണ്ട് കിലോമീറ്റര്‍ പിന്നിടുമ്പോള്‍ റോഡിനിരുവശവുമായി രണ്ട് മരങ്ങള്‍ നില്‍ക്കുന്നത് കാണാം. ഇതില്‍ ഒരു മരത്തിന് 100 മീറ്ററിലധികം ഉയരവും 150 സെന്റീമീറ്റര്‍ വണ്ണവും വരും.

കേന്ദ്രം എന്‍ഡോസള്‍ഫാനൊപ്പം

ന്യൂഡല്‍ഹി: കേരളം, കര്‍ണ്ണാടകം ഒഴികെയുള്ള സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളില്‍ എന്‍ഡോസള്‍ഫാന്‍ വില്‍ക്കാമെന്ന് കേന്ദ്രസര്‍ക്കാര്‍ സുപ്രീം കോടതിയെ അറിയിച്ചു. കേരളവും കര്‍ണ്ണാടകവുമാണ് എന്‍ഡോസള്‍ഫാന്‍ ഉപയോഗത്തോട് വിയോജിക്കുന്നത്. അതിനാല്‍ ഈ സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളെ ഒഴിവാക്കി മറ്റ് സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളില്‍ എന്‍ഡോസള്‍ഫാന്‍ വില്‍ക്കാമെന്നാണ് കേന്ദ്രത്തിന്റെ നിലപാട്. ഉപയോഗ കാലാവധി കഴിയാത്ത എന്‍ഡോസള്‍ഫാന്‍ വില്‍ക്കാന്‍ അനുവദിക്കണമെന്ന് കേന്ദ്രം സുപ്രീം കോടതിയില്‍ സത്യവാങ്മൂലം നല്‍കി. എന്‍ഡോസള്‍ഫാന്‍ നിരോധനത്തിന് അഞ്ചുവര്‍ഷം സമയം വേണമെന്നും കേന്ദ്രം സത്യവാങ്മൂലത്തില്‍ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു. ഡിവൈഎഫ്ഐ സമര്‍പ്പിച്ച ഹര്‍ജിയിലാണ് മാരകകീടനാശിനിയായ എന്‍ഡോസള്‍ഫാന്‍ നിരോധിക്കാന്‍ കോടതി ഉത്തരവിട്ടത്. 1760 കിലോലിറ്റര്‍ എന്‍ഡോസള്‍ഫാനാണ് ഉല്‍പാദകരുടെ കൈവശം അവശേഷിക്കുന്നത്. കേന്ദ്രകൃഷിമന്ത്രാലയം മുഖേനയാണ് കേന്ദ്രസര്‍ക്കാര്‍ സത്യവാങ്ങ്മൂലം സമര്‍പ്പിച്ചത്

എന്‍ഡോസള്‍ഫാന്‍ വില്‍പന : കേന്ദ്രത്തിന്റെ പച്ചക്കൊടി

ന്യൂഡല്‍ഹി: കേരളം, കര്‍ണാടക എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിലൊഴികെ രാജ്യത്ത് എന്‍ഡോസള്‍ഫാന്‍ വില്‍ക്കാമെന്ന് കേന്ദ്രസര്‍ക്കാര്‍ സുപ്രീം കോടതിയെ അറിയിച്ചു. കയറ്റുമതി ചെയ്യുന്നത് പൂര്‍ണമായും പ്രായോഗികമല്ലെന്നും ഉപയോഗകാലാവധി കഴിയാത്ത എന്‍ഡോസള്‍ഫാന്‍ വില്‍ക്കാന്‍ അനുമതിക്കാമെന്നാണ് കേന്ദ്രനിലപാട്.

കഴിഞ്ഞ ഒക്ടോബറില്‍ എന്‍ഡോസള്‍ഫാന്‍ ഉത്പാദനം ദേശീയതലത്തില്‍ പൂര്‍ണമായി സുപ്രീംകോടതി നിരോധിച്ചിരുന്നു. ഇതോടെ രാജ്യത്ത് 1090.596 മെട്രിക് ടണ്‍ എന്‍ഡോസള്‍ഫാന്‍ കെട്ടിക്കിടക്കുമെന്നും കോടതിയെ ഉത്പാദകര്‍ അറിയിച്ചിരുന്നു. ഇത് കര്‍ശന നിബന്ധനകളോടെ കയറ്റുമതി ചെയ്യാന്‍ സുപ്രീം കോടതി അനുമതിയും നല്‍കിയിരുന്നു.

ഇതിനിടെയാണ് ഈ രണ്ടു സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലൊഴികെ മറ്റിടങ്ങളില്‍ എന്‍ഡോസള്‍ഫാന്‍ വില്‍ക്കാമെന്ന നിലപാട് കേന്ദ്രസര്‍ക്കാര്‍ സുപ്രീം കോടതിയെ അറിയിച്ചത്. രണ്ട് സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളില്‍ മാത്രമാണ് ഇവ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നതിന് എതിര്‍പ്പുണ്ടായതെന്നും സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ കോടതിയെ അറിയിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.

വിദേശത്തുനിന്നു 1734 മെട്രിക് ടണ്‍ എന്‍ഡോസള്‍ഫാന്‍ കയറ്റുമതിചെയ്യുന്നതിനാണ് ഓര്‍ഡര്‍ ലഭിച്ചത്. എന്നാല്‍, ആകെ 1090.596 മെട്രിക് ടണ്‍ മാത്രമാണ് ഇന്ത്യയില്‍ ലഭ്യമായിട്ടുള്ളതെന്ന് വിദഗ്ധ സമിതി നേരത്ത നല്‍കിയ റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ടില്‍ കോടതിയെ അറിയിച്ചിരുന്നത്. ഈ സാഹചര്യത്തിലാണ് അത്രയും കയറ്റുമതിചെയ്യുന്നതിന് അനുമതി നല്‍കിയത്.

മെക്‌സിക്കോ, അര്‍ജന്റീന, ഗ്വാട്ടിമാല, ഇക്വഡോര്‍, ഉറുഗ്വായ്, മൊസാംബിക്, സുഡാന്‍, ഉഗാണ്ട, സാംബിയ, പാകിസ്താന്‍, ചൈന, ബ്രസീല്‍, അമേരിക്ക തുടങ്ങിയ രാജ്യങ്ങളിലേക്ക് കയറ്റുമതി ചെയ്യാനാണ് വിദഗ്ധസമിതി നേരത്തെ നിര്‍ദ്ദേശിച്ചത്.
